APPLYING PRESS-ON NAILS
There are a couple of options. The “How to Apply” video will show how this is done, but allow me to offer the rundown:
Option 1 is with nail glue. This is for a wear time of 1-3 weeks:
- If your nails are long, they may stick out from beneath the press-ons. You will need to use a nail clipper or file to minimize the length of your natural nails. Then you can push back your cuticles with the cuticle stick. Before applying your press-on nails, make sure they fit. If some aren’t fitting by the cuticle area you can file them to create a better fit nail.
- Prep time! Buff nails with the buffer block to get rid of the shine and any dead skin from the surface of your natural nails. This assists with the glue latching on to the nails to ensure a longer wear time. Don't go crazy with this step, you don't want to ruin your natural nails if you over file/buff. Just lightly buff the surface until you don't see anymore shine from your natural nails.
- Clean all of your natural nails with the alcohol wipe to get rid of the debris.
- Apply the nail glue on your natural nails. Do one nail at a time*. Once you have glue on your nail, grab your press-on nail and push it down. Make sure the nail is straight. Hold down firmly for about 30 seconds. Apply pressure all over the nail to get rid of air bubbles and to ensure the press-on nail latches onto the entire nail bed. Do this step to all nails and voilà, you've got Vistosa Nails!
*NOTE: It’s recommended to begin with your pinky finger and work your way toward your thumb. Additionally, don’t wet your hands for at least a couple of hours after application.
Option 2 is done with the adhesive tabs. This is done for a shorter wear time of 1-2 days:
- If your nails are long, they may stick out from beneath the press-ons. You will need to use a nail clipper or file to minimize the length of your natural nails. Then you can push back your cuticles with the cuticle stick. Before applying your press-on nails, make sure they fit. If some aren’t fitting by the cuticle area you can file them to create a better fit nail.
- Pick the correct adhesive tab size for your nail bed.
- Peel off the tab from the sheet and stick it onto your natural nail with the rounder part placed by the cuticle area. The small film that's sticking out should face the free edge. Press down firmly.
- Peel off the small film piece to create “double sided tape.”
- Place the press-on nail firmly onto the tab and voilà, you've got Vistosa Nails!
*NOTE: Adhesive tabs are used for a shorter wear time of 1-2 days.
- If you search “adhesive tabs” on Vistosa’s website, you can see where to purchase 5 adhesive sheets for $8 (120 total tabs).
REMOVING PRESS-ON NAILS
NEVER rip off your press-on nails, especially when you have used the nail glue. This can damage your natural nails. There are two common options for removing press-ons.
Option 1 (glue):
- Again, do NOT rip off the press-on nails especially when you've used nail glue.
- A bowl of warm water + soap + cuticle oil will encourage gel tips to fall off and you can re-use the press-ons! Soak hands in the soapy, warm water for about 10-15 minutes and use the cuticle stick to gently assist with the press-on nail releasing from your natural nail.
- If a couple of nails are still secured on your natural nails, do not force them off. Grab some fresh warm water and continue to soak until they loosen up from being attached to your natural nail.
- If there is any excess glue on your natural nails, use the buffer block from the application kit very lightly to remove it. Rehydrate your hands and nails with some lotion and cuticle oil.
- Glue excess may be on the press-on nail. I suggest to invest in a small hand held e-file. These can be found online for about $17-$35. With this tool, you can carefully file away glue buildup to reuse the nails.
Option 2 (adhesive tabs):
- Adhesive tabs offer quality attachment, but they are not as strong as nail glue. Soak hands in a bowl of soapy, warm water with some cuticle oil for about 5 minutes. Gently push and pull off the press-on nails. If the tabs aren't becoming loose within 5 minutes continue to soak your finger tips for a few more minutes.
